the Author Mark Sowers is
a thirteen year old native of Spring Hill, Kansas. He has liked elephants his
entire life but it was little more than a passing interest until one day in June
2000 when a rerun of a nature show introduced him to Cynthia Moss and her work
with the Amboseli elephants. He soon read Echo of the Elephants and came
to know Echo and her family. He has since devoted himself to helping and
learning about the EBs and all of Amboseli’s elephants. He hopes to study
zoology when he gets to college and to study in as a part of the Amboseli
Elephant Research Project. He currently lives with his parents and two sisters
on their Spring Hill farm along with a dog, two horses, and 22 cows. He attends
Spring Hill Middle School in the eighth grade.
