I thought you might enjoy seeing some before and after the drought photos. These were taken from the verandah of my tent in late October and in January. What a difference some rain makes. I am always amazed at how resilient African savannahs are. Part of Echo's family, the EBs, are in the after picture.

Wow, this is a huge difference from when I was recently there! I studied abroad with the School for Field Studies, based in Kimana, and we visited the park right before leaving in December but there was still no grass. It seemed like the rain was hitting everywhere but Amboseli, the grass was growing in Kimana and Chylulu Hills! Such a relief that the rains finally made it!

Yours photos really bring home the impact of rain upon the environment..and how nature provides abundantly under the right conditions....all this green..seed stored in the dry soil..amazing..wonderful for the elephant families to graize on lush pasture..in peace..just being who they are....

Cynthia,

Having seen the view looking a lot like the first picture, it makes me so happy to see how much it has changed. Wish I could be there to see it in person.
