twice now and loved it, I have finally stirred myself to enquire of Discovery Channel/Animal Planet as to whether or not the series will be released on dvd. I will let everyone know what the reply is in due course.

My thanks go to Martyn Colbeck, Cynthia, Soila, Norah and Katito for such a superb series of programmes.

All the best and Merry Xmas.

Discovery Channel and I quote

"The majority of our current products are available through these two websites:

www.amazon.co.uk

and

www. play.com."

It doesn't exactly tell one if they're going to release the series on dvd.

Oh well I'd better go and look on amazon I suppose.

Echo and the Elephants Programme

Tue, 2009-10-27 11:09 by Laura

Once the again the programme was fantastic. It is wonderful to see the good work that is done by all at ATE. It was amazing to see Sinya being resuced. I have sponsored her through David Sheldrake Elephant Orphange and it was just so endearing to see how everyone works together, after seeing her beginnings and now know that she is at Voi enjoying her life - it makes the journey more improtant.

I am lucky I am going to Kenya with Born Free Foundation this Sat and will be visitng Amboseli and am hoping that a member of the team with visit us and explain their work to our small group.

I also hope that the programme is released on DVD in UK

Dear Cynthia,

With a lot of respect and admiration I have been watching 'Echo and the Elephants of Amboseli' on Animal planet.
I believe you have the best job in the world!
On december 8th me and my best friend Lisenka will be leaving for a month to visit Nyeri, Kenya. We will be volunteering in a children centre there. Besides our responsibilities at the centre we will also have enough time to go on tourists activities. One of our trips will be visiting Amboseli, I can't wait!
Is there a posibility that we can visit you and your team? And could we go on a trip to see the elephants? It would me a great experience.
I hope to hear from you soon.

With kind regards,

Charlotte Drop

Today in Animal Planet I saw An Eye for the Elephants. There was Echo but there were other elephant families too. Is this part of the series?

An Eye for an Elephant

This is a different film. If this was shown, I'm sure the series will get to India at some point.

Hi Cynthia, Thanks so much

Hi Cynthia,
Thanks so much for responding to me.

Some of the scenes from the film have been haunting me since yesterday and gave me some sleepless hours last night. I couldn't believe the misery of the desert elephants, such suffering, it was unbelievable. The painfully thin baby ele struggling to walk behind the mother in search of food and eventually dying has just taken over my mind. Also painful to think about are the scenes of Grace and her premature baby whom she carried between her trunk and tusk and the death of Erin were all horrible scenes. Then of course there was the elephant standing over her dead baby for 4 days, I have never seen so many tragedies within an hour and it has been really heart wrenching even to think about those scenes, must have been so hard for you and your team to live through it. The kidnapping and rescue of Ebony by Echo was simply amazing and fun, but I had never associated an elephant documentary with tragedy until last night.

Echo series in India

It doesn't seem to be showing in India, but I will see if I can find out if it will be broadcast there. Otherwise you may have to wait for the DVD.

Brilliant

Wow, well done everyone again, the footage by Martin is as always remarkable and does make justice of the beauty of Amboseli and it's surrounding area. The narration is also fantastic, as for Echo and the EB's, the real stars once again shows us the complexity of their lives and that special aura I feel elephants have… I also hope there will be a DVD and second the previous comments re how well it also shows the good work ATFE do with the local people in helping the process of co-existence between humans and elephants… A special mention also to the other stars of the series, the women of ATFE, great stuff !

Fantastic.

I really enjoyed watching this , Echo was truly beautiful i feel sad that i didnt get to see her. I liked the way it showed what good work the A T E team do with the elephants and the local Massai people, bringing it all together supporting each other. Cant wait till next week.
