Echo & Other Elephants DVD

Just received the copy I ordered in the mail today. It's a fantastic collection with all three Echo films and five others. I'm watching "Elephant Nomads of the Namib Desert" now. Amazing to see all those elephants do to survive in those conditions. The DVD is available on Amazon, and I got mine from the Circuit City website, which seemed to be the best price. It's a great deal for so many documentaries, and especially to have all three Echo films on one DVD.

New DVD set.
Thanks for this news. I have the Echo flicks, but will order to get the others. I enjoy Saba on Big Cat Diary.

Good stuff!
This is a very good deal actually.
I still like Echo 1 the most. For Ely’s story is so heartwarming and inspiring. It is heartbreaking to watch an injured Erin and her calf being bullied by another family while they were weak and alone in Echo 3.
"Elephant Nomads of the Namib Desert" is a very good film as well. It's sad to watch Himba fading away though.
Haven't started disk 2 yet.
Also, is the pilot our Harvey in Echo3? If yes, nice to see you there, Harvey!
Yes, the intrepid aviator is...
... I. The Echo-III filming was the source of material for the little ego trip in my blog. Nice of you to notice: I don't get much fan mail these days.
Cheers, Harvey
I am a big fan
That’s absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Thank you very much Harvey.
I am a big fan of yours and the ATE as well. I read your blog about Echo's family, Vicky’s collar (I love that “Getting in the way: by Martyn Colbeck"), about giant snail, etc. When I first read about your involvement of the signing of Kenya Accord, I thought “It’s good for the country but too bad we won’t see Harvey’s input for a while”. Luckily the deal was reached fairly quickly and you are back.
Wish Kenya and everyone well.
Order placed!
Just ordered mine! Yeah! Thanks for telling us about it. Can't wait to recieve it!!
That's it!!! Now I'm sulking!!!!
I've had a look on amazon.co.uk and the BBC shop website and neither lists this set on R2 dvd (the BBC shop doesn't even mention it at all). I've just fired off an email to the BBC shop enquiring about it so I'll just wait and see what happens.

I had a reply to my email
like this
"Unfortunately 'Echo And Other Elephants' is not currently available on
DVD or VHS through BBC Shop and we are unaware of any plans to release
this title in the near future."
So I'll have to keep looking. If anyone comes across a source of the set in R2 format could they please let me know?

And another one...
Thanks, Mark, for being the first on the block to flag the new re-releases. Cannot wait to get mine. Guess you know there's also a 2005 Nature series release that has only has the first two episodes, Echo of the Elephants and Echo of the Elephants: The Next Generation. The newer one, as you point out, has all three, plus five other wildlife films (don't know which ones: perhaps you can let us know after you've seen them). Also, a couple of years ago, the Australians released a DVD with the three Echo films, plus Cynthia's Africa's Forgotten Elephants. Just for the record, these are our major film productions over the past several years:
The dates show the filming periods, with the latter date being the year of release.

New DVD
Ordered mine today. Looking forward to receiving it soon ...
DVD
Received mine yesterday. I just finished watching it. ALL of it. What a treasure. I watched the Echo series when it was broadcast on TV, but it was a delight to watch it all again.
The Elephants of Samburu is in 2 parts and part 2 chronicles the rescue of little Naserian who is now thriving in the Sheldrick Ithumba Unit in Tsavo.
It was wonderful to see all the interaction between Saba Douglas-Hamilton and the Samburu and Maasai people and the aerial footage of Samburu Reserve, Rift Valley and Lake Manyara was wondrous. I highly recommend this DVD for your collection.
