Breadcrumbs

When you go somewhere while eating bread, your trail stays visible due to the breadcrumbs you drop.

This analogy has become a standard term in web design. "Breadcrumbs" refers to a row of names near the top of a web page, showing how you got there or, more precisely, through which hierarchy branches you could walk to get to where you now are.

We have breadcrumbs too. They are, somewhat inconspicuously, squeezed in between the top menu [About us] and the side bar.

In addition to showing you where you are, the branch names are also clickable. To get out of your current location and up one level, you click on the rightmost term. To get out of everything, you can click on the leftmost one, which is usually "Home".

The breadcrumbs are inconspicuous, but they can be quite useful at times.
